We mainly investigate the scalability of DNA storage and leverage the coordination between digital systems and DNA storage.

Cache DNA provides a unique solution for century-scale storage and access to nucleic acid samples ranging from ecological species to viral and bacterial pathogens to molecular DNA data.

The Information Storage and Memories (ISM) at the Technion – Israel Institute of Technology is conducting theoretical and applied research in the area of non-volatile memories and storage systems.

ISM specializes in information and coding theory as well as coding techniques and algorithms for various applications in storage and communications. One of the primary areas of research is coding for DNA storage. We study several problems related to clustering, reconstruction algorithms, error-correcting codes, and constrained codes which are specifically motivated by the DNA storage channel.

The key expertise of the COD group at TUM is coding theory and security, including coding for storage, post-quantum cryptography, coded computing, network coding, and privacy.

Our goal is to make communications and storage efficient, reliable, and secure. Coding for DNA-based storage is one of our focus areas. The biological processes in DNA-based data storage require codes that correct special errors such as losses of sequences and symbol errors as insertions, deletions, and duplications. We, therefore, work on insertion/deletion correction, duplication correction, investigating the channel capacity of the DNA channel, theoretical efficiency of DNA synthesis, and developing codes that are tailored to the whole DNA storage channel.

The Institute for Complex Molecular Systems (ICMS) at the Eindhoven University of Technology focuses on multidisciplinary science and education in the engineering of complex molecular systems.

It brings students and scientists from different disciplines together to create small molecular factories based on novel insights in self-assembly, sophisticated engineering tools, and modeling. The almost unlimited possibilities of nano-science and micro-technology will offer design rules for dynamic systems in which different time and length scales are integrated.

Biomemory is working with its customers to meet the challenge of global data growth for the coming decades. Biomemory is designing data storage solutions with the smallest possible carbon footprint.

Through domestication and adaptation of biological processes, our team continuously develops the most efficient data storage technologies.

With Zetabytes of data in need to be stored for long-term archival already today, the EC funded project OligoArchive (https://oligoarchive.eu) will develop the fundamental technologies needed to make DNA storage a reality. The resulting technology will make DNA storage comparable to today’s archival storage in terms of speed but will make long-term data archival more cost-effective.

The Claude Nobs Foundation oversees the curation and conservation of Claude Nobs’ audio & visual archives, which is one of the World’s largest private collection of “live” music recordings – all of which was recorded at the Montreux Jazz Festival (Switzerland) since 1967.  Having started with jazz in the early days, over the next 54 years, the collection has grown and enriched itself with new genres of music ranging from blues and rock, to rap, soul, Latin and many more.  In 2007, Claude Nobs Foundation joined forces with the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne (EPFL) to create a unique, first of its kind, high resolution digital archive of the Festival.
